Gibson Launching Digital Guitar Model

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — "The defining moment will be when a certain lick in a popular song is out
there, and it can't be done with anything else but a digital guitar Juszkiewicz says. "It only takes one
example to really inspire people." That, Juszkiewicz hopes, will usher in the age of the digital guitar —
much the same way as the Beatles and Rolling Stones inspired a generation of young people to pick
up a standard electric guitar in the 1960s.

The 100-Megabit Guitar, Jan, 2004 Issue
Stanford staged a concert last fall that linked several musicians at different locations who improvised
with each other over a system developed by NetworkSound, the first company to build a business
plan around Magic. The school was so pleased that its Center for Computer Research in Music and
Acoustics will also tap the technology for its recording facilities. "We're dividing our studios across 2
kilometers, and we can just grab a fiber on the campus network and make remote studios with zero
delay," explains music professor Chris Chafe. "It's foolproof."

NAMM: Gibson Launch Digital Guitar
Les Paul with separate outputs for each string   27-Jul-04,

The big news from Gibson at the Summer Namm show has been their digital guitar. The digital
system is 100% compatible with existing Gibson guitars and the only visible difference to the Les
Pauls fitted with the system at the show was the hexaphonic pickup next to the bridge and the extra
outputs where the single jack socket would normally fit.
